Bobble Pillow
Today I finally finished my pillow!
I followed a pattern for the Belladere Pillow from Modern Crochet by Teresa Carter. I bought this book maybe two years ago with the explicit purpose of making the pillow on the front cover. But I never got around to it. But then, some people in my building were moving out and selling a bunch of furniture. And I bought the exact chair that the pillow was sitting on in its picture in Modern Crochet. So I took that as my sign to finally make the pillow.
This was my first time having a lot of issues with tension. Normally I do amigurumi, where tension doesn’t matter too much. But for this, the back side ended up way smaller than the front. I ended up adding a double crochet border to the back side, and then trying to block it (first time I ever tried blocking, I used a cardboard box).
It worked pretty well!
At one point I was crocheting the back side while on the train, and counted my stitches. And oh no, I was missing two stitches. I found one of the mistakes just a few stitches back, so I unraveled to fix it. But the other mistake was pretty far back, so I just left it and added an increase in the next row. See if you can spot the dropped stitch in the picture below.
